Continuing Our Commitment to Wilderness Preservation: Juniper Ridge's Western Wilderness Defense Fund

In an era marked by rapid urbanization and increasing technological advancements, the importance of preserving wilderness has never been more critical. Wilderness areas not only provide a refuge for diverse ecosystems, but are also deeply important to human well-being.

Conservation efforts and presidential declarations matter because they buy us time to take care of these stunning landscapes we’ve all inherited. By acting now, we can still make positive changes for these wildlands before we ruin them irrevocably.

The Western Wilderness Defense Fund:

As a group of avid nature-lovers, our goal at Juniper Ridge is to share the wild places we hold dear. That’s why it’s not enough to just create products inspired by nature; we also actively contribute to wilderness preservation through our Western Wilderness Defense Fund.

Every Juniper Ridge purchase you make helps to support protection and advocacy efforts in our backyard: North America’s West Coast. Every year, we happily donate 10% of our profits or 1% of sales (whichever is greater) to non-profit organizations dedicated to wilderness conservation efforts. This initiative is our contribution to protecting and preserving the pristine landscapes that inspire us and our products.

The Importance of Preserving Wilderness:

Biodiversity Conservation:
  • Wilderness areas serve as sanctuaries for a diverse range of flora and fauna. Preserving these natural habitats ensures the survival of countless species, many of which may be endangered or at risk of extinction.
Climate Change Mitigation:
  • By preserving wilderness, we contribute to the fight against climate change. Forests, for example, act as carbon sinks, absorbing and storing large amounts of carbon dioxide thus playing a vital role in regulating the Earth's climate.
Water Conservation:
  • Often the source of freshwater for rivers and streams, healthy wilderness areas are crucial for maintaining water quality and quantity.
Recreational and Educational Opportunities:
  • The wilderness offers unparalleled recreational opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts like us (and you), providing spaces for hiking, camping, and wildlife observation. These areas also serve as living classrooms, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of nature. Preserving wilderness ensures that future generations can continue to enjoy these experiences.

In a world where the natural environment is under constant threat, our commitment to donate 10% of profits empowers us and our customers to be part of the solution, ensuring that the beauty and benefits of wilderness areas endure for generations to come.

Our strategy is centered around countering the conservative shift in national politics by supporting groups that are developing or implementing specific new legislation and making a tangible impact on the conservation of vital ecosystems. We encourage you to explore the list of 2024's Western Wilderness Defense Fund recipients, and learn more about each organization.

As always, if something resonates with you, don’t hesitate to get involved.
