Ah yes. My favorite sleepytime herb. I prefer this to Valerian because it doesn’t leave me with a hangover feeling the next morning. However, the drawback is that it’s not as strongly sedative as Valerian. This is a magical plant—it makes me feel tingly and relaxed whenever I take it. It also works great in the daytime as a soothing, calming herb if taken in smaller amounts to avoid the sedative effect. The combination of vervain and Skullcap is my standard, first line of defense when I’m feeling too wound up to go to sleep. If that doesn’t work, then I resort to a slug of California Poppy or Valerian.
